PHYSICS QUIZ

SEPTEMBER 20th, FRIDAY, 10AM ONWARDS

@COLLEGE AUDITORIUM

The history of physics is as rich as the subject itself. It is full of interesting trivia. Physics encompasses the study of the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic particles. Moreover, it's the basis of many other sciences, including chemistry, oceanography, seismology, and astronomy. Nothing explains nature better than physics. Anything you see can only be explained by physics. When an apple falls on a person who could think of gravity other than a physicist.... The importance of physics isn't limited to the 'hard sciences'. If you're very passionate about this subject then come, participate and enlighten yourself in the unheard tales of physics with the quiz.

PAPER PRESENTATION

SEPTEMBER 20th, FRIDAY, 11 AM ONWARDS

@SEMINAR HALL~PHYSICS DEPARTMENT

The scope of research within physics expands far beyond what is portrayed in the media, and the sub-fields of physics which enjoy the most public acclaim frankly encompass a minority of active researchers. Physicists hunt for interesting unanswered questions and then try to answer them. It's a bit like trying to find a hilltop in a thick forest by dead reckoning and then working their way to the top. There can be a lot of false starts and dead ends. They often think they've arrived only to discover they're at an intermediate false peak with the main goal still in the distance. Or it turns out that the hilltop is in a different location or is a different height or shape than they expected. Arriving is a thrill. And they often catch a glimpse of a new interesting peak in the distance, a next point to aim for. If you're experienced with evaluating and summarizing relevant research papers, and making a 10-minute oral presentation of your understanding of the paper then come, participate and enlighten yourself in the field of research of physics with the PAPER PRESENTATION!
